Emerging Technologies

The emerging technologies highlighted in this chapter allowed for me to see just how high-tech our world has become. Some of the technologies seem pretty amazing. I found the wearable computer idea to be very interesting. Wearable technology would definitely be a great way to assist special needs students in the classroom. I also found the section about Artificial Intelligence programs intriguing. Although these programs have not yet become recognized as significant for use in the classroom, I could see how programs like this could be somewhat beneficial to both teachers and students. Using an AI program to track student performance would be very helpful in modifying lessons to best meet the students' needs. It will be interesting to see how this technology evolves over the coming years. I also found it interesting that the Nintendo Wii is noted as an emerging technology for use in the classroom, as well as for physical rehabilitation. This is definitely not a tool that I would have thought of as part of the classroom, but I think it definitely be a very good way to get students actively engaged in learning.

  1. I also am very intrigued to read about all the possible ways that technology may emerge in our future classrooms. One point that I thought was very eye-opening was when the chapter referred to the Wii. Now the Kinnect System offers the same basic technology , only no remote to control movements is needed. I think this is just another example of how fast technology is developing!
